YOUR MISSION AS OPERATIONS ENGINEER
At Cambridge Air Solutions (“Cambridge”), you will have an opportunity to revolutionize indoor air solutions to improve the lives and health of hard-working individuals within manufacturing and distribution environments.
Reporting to the Operations Engineering Manager, you will work closely with teams in Custom Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, enhance product manufacturability, and champion practical, cost-effective process improvements. You’ll equip Cambridge’s product teams and leaders with data-driven insights and operational best practice guidance to drive production processes to the next level.
- MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
- Analyze production processes and value streams to identify inefficiencies and champion data-driven, cost-effective continuous improvement projects. Justify opportunities with corresponding business case and return on investment considerations.
- Support and implement automation and technology solutions – such as robotics or new software tools – within budget conscious parameters.
- Develop and maintain data driven systems to track and understand plant operational performance to inform strategic decision making.
- PRODUCTION LINE SUPPORT
- Serve as hands-on technical expert to troubleshoot and resolve safety, quality, and delivery issues across production lines.
- Apply structured problem-solving methodologies such as root cause analysis to address recurring issues.
- Create and maintain standard work documentation, test procedures, and production aids to support efficient operations and a growing team.
- Time spent on production support fluctuates based on seasonality and product flow.
- STANDARD PRODUCT DESIGN MAINTENANCE
- Maintain standard product design documentation, including updates to bills of materials, production standards, component specifications, and end-of-line functional test procedures.
- Redesign or simplify sheet metal components to reduce forming and assembly complexity.
- Modify electrical layouts and wiring to improve ease of assembly and manufacturability.
- Make limited design changes to qualify and test new or alternate components or improve product offerings; collaborate with Product Development Engineering, Custom Engineering, or Sales/Service as needed.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or operations engineering role
Technical Experience
- Familiarity with HVAC products, controls, and electrical schematic designs
- Skilled at designing sheet metal components in SolidWorks and knowledgeable about sheet metal design and manufacturing best practices
- Capable of analyzing large datasets in Microsoft Excel
- Basic working experience with ERP systems
- Demonstrated track record of identifying and implementing technology to improve safety, quality, or delivery related manufacturing activities
Communication & Project Management
- Skilled at building relationships with multiple stakeholders to collaboratively solve problems and manage projects
- Detail-oriented, organized, and motivated to follow through on projects to completion with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, while communicating transparently and with humility
LOCATION & TRAVEL
This onsite position will be based at our corporate headquarters in Chesterfield, Missouri, or at our additional manufacturing facility in Wentzville, Missouri (two positions available). Onsite expectation of 5 days/week. Minimal travel to equipment installation locations will be required (estimated: 0-5%).
